Since the Apple iPhone X came out I have not needed my DSLR camera on my travels + I must say :: I haven’t missed it! Dragging around that big camera along with all of its accessories like lenses, batteries, etc. was very cumbersome. But I’ve found the camera + features on my iPhone X are plenty sufficient for taking great travel photos!
I know true photographers would not approve or recommend giving up your DSLR but unless you are attached to your camera + don’t mind lugging it around everywhere with you the iPhone X is a good option for your travel photos.
The features I use most are…
Portrait Mode :: sharp foreground + blurs the background
Selfie Portrait Mode :: sharp foreground + blurs the background
Video :: quality is great, I use this all the time.
Panorama :: can be used vertically or horizontally
Zoom :: does a pretty good job of zooming in but of course you lose quality
Timer :: comes in handy when you don’t have a selfie stick or if you are by yourself
Edit Features
Enhance :: Sometimes I use this “wand” to brighten up or sharpen an image which I like. But I prefer to keep my images as natural + original as possible
Lighten :: This feature has a tendency to make your image more grainy so I only use it when absolutely necessary
Crop :: I use this all the time. But not only can you crop with this feature but you can also re-align your images. When you click on Crop it will automatically adjust your image to line up with the horizontal or vertical lines in your image. From there you can adjust it to where you want
Filters :: I do not really use this feature because I think filters usually make images look fake but if you like that sort of thing there are lots of options. I do, however, like to turn some of my images to black and white. That is the only time I use filters
Markup :: I actually use this feature a lot. When I want to remember somethings specific about a photo I’ve taken I will mark on it what I want to remember. Once I use the image for whatever I want I just remove the markup. It’s actually a great feature
I recommend the Apple iPhone X for all your travel photos :: unless you are a professional photographer you will really enjoy not having to carry a big camera around with you everywhere + the iPhone X takes great pictures!
